Clothing, footwear and accessories, typically $15–150 per order.
Worth knowing
- Apparel base rates are high by tariff standards — often in the double digits before any additional tariff measures.
- Knitted and woven garments sit in different chapters (61 and 62) and can carry different rates for what looks like the same item.
- Duty is assessed on what you paid, so discounts and coupons lower the dutiable value.
Why the amount changes so much
Three things drive the number: the tariff classification of the goods, the country they were made in, and where they clear customs. Two parcels of the same value can differ by tens of percent because one is classified as footwear and the other as a toy — which is why the calculator asks for the product rather than just the price.
